Should I use my phone or a webcam?
Use your phone and ask someone else to take the picture. Smartphone cameras provide the image quality needed for a good document photo; webcams generally do not and should not be used. Clean the lens, use the rear camera when possible and ask the other person to hold the phone at eye level. Stand in soft, even light and follow the instructions during capture.
Which photo format should I choose?
Choose the format that matches the document you are applying for. If your document is not listed, use the custom format and enter the required dimensions.
Requirements vary between countries and document types. Check the current instructions from the issuing authority if you are unsure.
Does Photo Express guarantee that an authority will accept my photo?
Photo Express prepares your image for the selected format and checks common quality criteria, including framing and pose. The issuing authority always makes the final acceptance decision. If an authority rejects your photo because of insufficient photo quality, we will refund the full amount paid.
How does the 60-day money-back guarantee work?
If an authority rejects your photo, you can request a refund within 60 days of purchase using our refund form.
What are the Swiss passport photo requirements?
For a printed Swiss passport or identity photo, the official format is 35 × 45 mm. The face must be centred, clearly visible and evenly lit against a plain, neutral background. Both eyes should be open, the mouth closed and the head straight.
The photograph is generally taken by the authority when your biometric data is recorded. Only some cantons accept a photo you provide, so ask your cantonal passport office before ordering.
Do I need a white wall behind me?
The background is removed automatically. A wall is still a good choice because it is not a light source. Be sure to avoid lamps, windows or people in the background.
Can I wear glasses?
Rules depend on the document. For Swiss passport and identity photos, the eyes must remain fully visible, the frames must not cover them and the lenses must not reflect light. Tinted lenses and sunglasses are generally not accepted, except for specific medical needs.
Can I smile in a passport photo?
Use a neutral or naturally friendly expression with your mouth closed. Avoid a broad smile, as it can change facial proportions and may not meet the selected document's rules.
Can I print the digital photo myself?
Yes. Download the finished file and print it on suitable photo paper at home or through a local photo printing service (like Migros, Coop, Müller, Rossmann). Make sure printing does not scale or crop the image. Professionally printed photos can also be delivered to addresses in Switzerland.

What happens after I start the capture?
Photo Express opens the secure guided capture for your selected format. Follow the on-screen directions, review the result and choose your preferred delivery option.
Where is my photo processed?
The secure capture and photo processing take place in Switzerland. You do not need to create an account to begin.
Can I use a photo I already have?
The capture flow is designed to guide you through creating a compliant photo. Existing photos may work only if they satisfy the same size, background, and face-position requirements.
